Position Overview:

The Senior Manager – Canada & Latin America Tax Controversy will be responsible for effectively supporting Canada & Latin America tax audits and controversies, including collecting and analyzing information and drafting complete and concise responses to the appropriate authorities. Additional responsibilities will include project management to ensure all audit, appeal and litigation matters are progressing on a timely basis, reporting progress of controversy matters to the Global Tax Controversy team, and participation in defining and implementing audit process improvements.

Key Responsibilities:

Work with tax audit team to effectively manage multiple audit/controversy projects and deliver results. Includes tracking status of open matters, managing due dates, working with cross-functional groups to obtain facts and analyses to support Oracle’s positions, and monitoring trends and other key performance indicators.

Build rapport with internal colleagues and external advisors and authorities, establish successful working relationships, and facilitate effective discussions with team members, advisors and authorities to effectively support Oracle and acquired entity tax audits.

Engage in rigorous, logical analyses to fully understand issues, positions, relevant support, and alternatives. Includes collecting and analyzing data, tax rules and other information to support or refute a position, reviewing alternative positions/support, and providing recommendations.

Organize and summarize information in a clear, concise manner, specifically tailored for the intended audience, both internal and external. Includes drafting competent authority requests, protest documents and responses to audit requests.

Work with global teams across all lines of business to implement process improvements identified through tax audits.

Exhibit sense of overall responsibility for projects/tasks, and involve appropriate internal/external team members and senior management in the audit process at the proper time in order to successfully complete each project/task.

Preferred Requirements:

Undergraduate degree. Advanced degree in accounting, tax, or law a plus.

Previous experience managing multiple tax audit projects while adhering to strict deadlines and managing work of outside vendors or contractors.

Previous experience analyzing and illustrating tax (or other) consequences of various alternatives, summarizing advantages/risks of options, and providing related recommendations.

Previous experience working with cross functional groups and leading group based projects from inception through execution.

Fluent in business English and Spanish and/or Portuguese.
