Website/Newsletter Coordinator (Volunteer)

Latincouver is a non-profit organization that for the past 12 years has been connecting over 100,000 Latin Americans with Latin enthusiasts living in Western Canada. As of today, we are the point of reference within the Latin American community in British Columbia.
Duties and Responsibilities:
●Lead and coordinate multidisciplinary teams to develop Latincouver’s website and newsletter content, graphics, capacity and interactivity
●Create and optimize content for the Latincouver website using various content management systems, graphics, databases and other software
●Source, select and organize information for inclusion and design the website’s appearance, layout, and flow
●Consult with internal clients and agencies to develop and document website requirements.
●Conduct tests and perform security and quality controls
●Prepare mock-ups and drafts
●Determine hardware and software requirements
●Plan, design, write, modify, integrate and test website-related code
●Research and evaluate a variety of interactive media software products
●Plan and coordinate activities of volunteers and assure the production deadlines are met
●Confer with copywriters, proofreaders and translators and others regarding revisions to copy
●Plan coverage of upcoming events and assign work accordingly
●Evaluate the suitability of articles and news copy for electronic media and recommend or make changes in content, style and organization
●Write or prepare articles, newsletter contents, web page contents and other texts
●Read and edit copy to be published to detect and correct errors in spelling, grammar and syntax, and shorten or lengthen copy as space or time requires
●Plan and implement layout or format of copy according to space or time allocations and significance of copy
●Plan, organize, direct, control and evaluate the design, development and maintenance of Internet and email applications to manage the organization’s online presence, including communications and website management
●Other activities as assigned
Requirements and skills:
●English fluency
●BSc in Marketing, Communications or relevant field
●Excellent web content writing and communications skills
●Experience in advertising on websites and multiple social networks
●Proven work experience as a Web Copywriter or similar role
●Knowledge of SEO, keyword research and analytics tools (e.g. Google Analytics)
●Ability to deliver creative web content (text, image and video)
●Cross-cultural competence and sensitivity
●Knowledge in Latin American culture and Spanish or Portuguese are a strong asset
●Availability to work 15 hours per week and for 3 months minimum
